Like a market in Baghdad!

What would you do if you hadn't seen your husband in 3.5 weeks and you were going to get to see him for a total of 48 hours, and then he missed his flight?

Death?
Dismemberment?

At least those were my initial reactions.

But he did get on a later flight and arrived just in time to have a reheated Thanksgiving meal.

Friday morning, in order to make up for over-sleeping we went Black Friday shopping! Now I have never had the courage to venture out early in the morning, and hopefully I never will again.

We needed a new radio/navi system for my car since the old one was stolen. So off we go to a little place called Nebraska Furniture M@rt. If you've ever lived in Iowa, Nebraska or Missouri I would be shocked if you haven't heard of it. It's a pretty amazing place filled with furniture, electronics, appliances, kitchen stuff, decor, a McDonald's and a clearance center. It's owned by the "Oracle of Omaha", aka Warren Buffet.

We arrived at 7am (the exact moment the store opened) and I stepped into the back of the line while *R* parked the car. The line wrapped around the building, which is about 3x the size of Wal-M@rt. Did I mention it's cold at 7am in Omaha this time of year? Yeah, really cold. What happened next was....well...it was scary.

*R* compared it to a market in East Baghdad if that gives you any idea. We were able to navigate our way through the crowds and didn't lose each other or any limbs in the process. We also picked up 2 Garmin navi systems, a new radio for my car, and my most exciting purchase?

An alarm clock. Yep, no more excuses for missed flights Mr. *R*!

Seriously though, it hooks up to any ipod device (including iphone), it's a digital picture frame, plays movies and music straight from the ipod, AND wakes you up in the morning! And we purchased this little beauty for about 40% of the price anywhere else. Yes, please!

All in all, not a bad haul! Although I highly doubt I'll be going back next year. No thank you, I'll just sleep in and go to Starbucks.

Oh honey, my husband missed his flight out of WA from SERE as well, and so did 6 other guys. I was pissed especially since we were moving from FL to NC in 2 days.

Hope SERE was ok for him.

Haha I remember NFM. I lived in Iowa, and I remember many cross country drives with a stop there!

Sounds like you guys did well on Black Friday! I probably would have flipped out too if P had missed his flight this weekend.

Oh R, I would have murdered you. Seriously. And I have alarm clock envy. Though my cheap ass one displays the time on the ceiling. I doesn't do much else, though.

That is officially the coolest alarm clock I have ever seen.

And yay for navi systems -- we've had ours for a year now, and I don't know what we did before we got it!

I did Black Friday a few years ago and swore I'd never do it again, but my sister talked me into it for this year lol.

I have nothing but love for NFM.

SO jealous that you get to be in the area, enjoy your time with R!
